Week of Mar. 19-23, 2018

Thank you to the many parents who were able to join us for Celebration of Learning.  It's wonderful to see the pride on the faces of our students as they show their parents all of their hard work.

Notes:
  • Registration for the 2018-2019 school year has begun!  Please carefully go through the forms being sent home with your child and return them by Mar. 29.  If you know your child will not be coming to Galbraith next year, please let the office know as this will affect creating class lists for grade 5.
  • If you haven't already, please return your child's report card envelope with a signature on it.  This shows us you've seen it and allows us to save paper and reuse it in June.

Curriculum:
  • Math: Work on fractions continues with comparing and ordering fractions.  You can help at home by talking about fractions - which are greater?  Least?  We will also go into decimals this week.  In grade 4, students learn about tenths (e.g. 0.1) and hundredths (e.g.0.01).
  • L.A.
    • Spelling: Lesson 11 dictation on Thursday.
    • Writing: We are learning about the difference between fact and opinion as both are required to write a persuasive essay.
  • Science:
    • This week we will learn about what's in the garbage, and ways to reduce waste.
  • Social: The Calgary Stampede was a lot of fun!  This week we will wrap up the regions with a review and then move into Book 2 which is the history and stories of the people of Alberta.  We will begin with the First Nations people and their connection to the land.

This Week's Schedule:
Monday:
  • No library books or Friday letters due

Tuesday:
  • Last day for book fair
  • Tone It Up Tuesday

Friday:
  • Frolicking Friday
