Week of Mar. 5-9, 2018

It's been so much fun seeing kids playing on the snow hills!  It's great that they're finding ways to enjoy this winter.

Curriculum:
  • Math: We will be working this week on fractions of a set (e.g. 1/5 of 20 is 4), and unit fractions (e.g. 1/3, 1/6, 1/10)
  • Language Arts:
    • Spelling: The assessment for Lesson 10 will take place this Thursday.
    • Writing: In combination with our science unit, we have started our persuasive essays
  • Science: The new unit, Waste in Our World has begun!  We are trying something new this year.  Students will rotate through centres to complete different activities related to the unit.  One centre will be working with the teacher on the persuasive essay.
  • Social: We will be saying goodbye to the Canadian Shield Region.  Before we go, we will check out the natural resources, and have a quick assessment.  Then, we are starting a "staycation." Instead of traveling to far off regions, we will be staying home in our own Grasslands Region.
