Week of Apr. 16-20, 2018

I think we're in Narnia and someone has cast a spell on the land to make it always winter and never Christmas!  (Check out "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis if you don't get the reference!).

Notes:
  • Gymnastics continues!  Please make sure your child is dressed properly.  If not, they are not able to participate as not wearing the right clothing can cause injury.  See the April newsletter for more information.

Curriculum:
  • Math: This week we will continue to work on area, including measuring in square centimetres and square metres, estimating areas and comparing different rectangles with equal areas.
  • L.A.
    • Spelling: Lesson 14 coming home this week.
    • Writing: This week will finish the persuasive essays and start practicing giving them as speeches.
  • Science: We will wrap up the Waste in Our World unit with some games and a Bill Nye video.  We will review a little bit and have a quiz on Wednesday.  See the science page for a study guide.
  • Social: Each of the three classes is going to get one chapter from our textbook.  The classes will be split into small groups and work to create presentations for the other classes on their topics.  We will plan and prepare for two weeks or so and then present.  You can help at home by asking your child what their topic is, and to get them to tell you as much about it as they can.
